Procurement strategy

The lowest price is not always the lowest cost.

Put price in a fuller picture of value and dependencies.

TPC perspective

Purchase price is one part of a decision. Installation, operation, maintenance, quality, lead times and end of life can change the economics of an offer.

Comparison requires a common scope, explicit assumptions and a consistent time horizon. A consumption or reliability assumption can matter more than a discount.

Consequences that are hard to monetise should remain visible: supplier dependency, innovation capacity, and social and environmental impacts. They can be assessed separately without forcing them into one monetary figure.

Procurement helps make these trade-offs understandable and open to challenge, then tracks the outcomes.
